He also brought his proposal to the European Commission President Von Der Layen, whom he met in Brussels yesterday.

In his last letter to the General Secretary Guterres, Anastasiadis mentioned that he had previously sent President Mustafa Akıncı to the proposal on ‘establishment of a joint committee that Turkish Cypriots, Greek Cypriots and foreign experts would join as the first step of the opening of the Closed Varosha and its legal residents’ and stated that he had not received any answers.

In the news of Greek media from Brussels with the title “Asked for a helping hand For Maras(Varosha)… Anastasiadis’s Meeting With Ursula von der Leyen and His Letter About The Closed City”, it has written that Anastasiadis asked for a helping hand from the President of the Council of Europe Ursula von der Leyen to deter the Turkish side from the announcement of opening Marash (Varosha).
