Text: Anastasia Hevko Photo: Bohdan Datsyuk October 14, on the Day of Defender of Ukraine, a series of actions took place simultaneously in Kyiv, one of which was the large-scale march “No Surrender!” (Nі kapitulyatsії), after which tens of thousands of people took part in a rally on Independence Square. This was the second action against the so-called Steinmeier formula - holding elections and introducing a special status for the occupied territories, as well as the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops in the Donbass - but last time, on October 6, the actions gathered less people. Formation of the column began at 14:00 in Shevchenko Park. Since the march was organized by veteran organizations, it political flags, symbols or slogans were scarcely observed. The columns were headed by veterans of war with Russia. Many participants of the march carried the flags of Ukraine. There were also Crimean Tatar flags and UPA flags. The Ukrainians, who gathered to support the march, applauded and chanted Thank you! to Ukrainian defenders. Participants also shouted “Glory to Ukraine” - “Glory to the Heroes”, “Glory to the Nation - “No surrender!”. Many people traditionally come to rally with whole families. Apparently, the participation of pets is becoming another tradition of marches. During the march, calls were made for the removal of the head of the Office of the President, Andriy Bohdan, who accused the participants of the first rally against Steinmeier formula that their action was allegedly “paid”, but did not provide any evidence of his words. Some activists chanted “Down with Zelya!” (Zelensky), some of those present were holding poster with inscriptions against President Zelensky. https://www.facebook.com/qhacomua/videos/577274276144160/?__xts__=68.ARDX0epOWV3GIkb4VCQGiC7A0xF6XV4lSmcVfkrT2cwUuxaK4agFnqWzp7LGfTQ14tYy1ZUgikAymVcnzJBNHGYtuITrnBhZenWxfwD6rt39X-KE-n5GDQpzTEMlr-yNUfD-EDCnq9Zh2R_dfVJcfiD66TbcIVdp60VZDmcqdF3Wy17zzrkiRhrCL4x00PuDlWd1pRImNmZ8Yf1P6XDbxjssKLyE72xx3Ilah6I7hMXpWX3SNjZwh3TLDS_68StfrRKfECXsrXumAH7w2_k3prPS7L-U8juSTHcAwDv_4ou294sBNrjMeTfGy1f-oQCgG4-qrSm8zBVkV0Ty8vOifMkIM_onW1KW1siTgA&__tn__=-R In general, the action was quite musical. Volunteers sang the anthem of Ukraine and Ukrainian song Chervona Ruta during the march, and activists with a bagpipe and drums led one of the columns. Among the participants of the columns were Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, MP from the European Solidarity faction Akhtem Chiygoz and volunteer, MP from the European Solidarity faction Yana Zinkevich. Activists have not forgotten about the church holiday marked the same day - the Protection of the Holy Virgin Mary. On the way to Khreshchatyk Street, the march participants lit colored flares. The march ended with a rally on Independence Square, where volunteers and veterans of the war with Russia spoke from the stage and reiterated their demands on President Zelensky, the main one of which was the message “No surrender” with implementing the Steinmeier formula. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the Day of Defender of Ukraine, which was accompanied by marches, appeals to him and rallies, left Kyiv. Judging by the information published by the press service of the Office of the President, Zelensky went to Donbass, where he asked the command which of the fighters distinguished themselves during the service and presented the best fighters with state awards and watches.
