Details of the “trial” over Ukrainian sailors: Riot police arrived to the court building, only Russian media were allowed to the “hearing”
Russian security officials have increased security measures at the building of the Kremlin-controlled Kiev district court in Simferopol, where on November 27, a preventive measure was elected for the Ukrainian sailors captured in the Kerch Strait.
The “police”, “bailiffs” and the Russian riot police arrived to the building of the “court”, Krym.Realii reported.
Only theRussian media were allowed to the court meeting, Crimean Tatar activist Riza Asanov noted.
“Firstit was announced that the meeting would be open and all who wish may attend it.Then they announced that the “trials” would be held in three halls. After standingin a queue, as I approached the hall, I was asked: “are you on the lists?”. Isay: “what lists?”. I was informed that the “bailiff” said that theentry was only for Russian journalists and those on the list. Then I showed myID issued by a Polish organization. They ran around and eventually said thatthey would not let me in,” Asanov said.
The election of a preventive measure for the Ukrainian sailors will be considered for three days, the lawyer Edem Semedlyaev said in a comment to Hromadske on November 27.
“One group will be judged today, the second tomorrow, the third – the wounded sailors – in Kerch, but when it is not clear yet,” Semedlyaev said.
Earlier, Crimean Tatar activists began gathering outside the “court” building.
The head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov, called on compatriots to come to this “trial” and support the Ukrainian sailors detained by the Russian FSB.
“Then the final formula will be modelled [for exchange of prisoners – Ed.]. However, as long as the verification of the majority of the exchange participants has not been carried out, it can be assumed that will be possible to exchange a little more than 200 people in total,” the message says.
