We have every right: Kyiv responded to Russia's accusations of blocking waters of the Dnieper River
Ukraine blocked not the Dnieper riverbed, but a technological structure (channel), which is located on the territory of the country, and has every right to do so.
The Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Anton Korinevich thus commented on the words of the “Permanent Representative of Crimea under the President of the Russian Federation” Georgy Muradov to initiate a negotiation process with Ukraine to resume supply of waters of the Dnieper River to the illegally annexed peninsula.
Korinevich noted that Crimea is not the territory of the Russian Federation, and Russia cannot raise issues related to the peninsula in interstate relations.
The Representative of the President of Ukraine recalled that it was the occupying state that should be responsible for providing the occupied territory with all necessary resources.
Therefore, all claims of the occupying state regarding the Dnieper water do not have any legal or international legal basis. Crimea is Ukraine, – Korinevich concluded.
