US ready to help Ukraine fight Russian propaganda in Donbas - Senator Portman
During his speech in the US Senate on June 5, the US Senator from the Republican Party, Robert Portman said that at the meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky he had discussed the needs of the Ukrainian army for new weapon systems and ideas of fighting Russian propaganda in the Donbas.
Portman spoke positively about the conversation with Zelensky, which lasted about an hour: “He is clever, astute and determined.”
They also discussed the spread of Russian propaganda and the problem of disturbing Ukrainian television signals in the occupied territories.
We talked about some ideas that would help counter that propaganda, the jamming, and the disinformation, and I have already been in touch with the State Department about those ideas, – Portman said.
Among the other issues discussed were options of pressure on Moscow for the release of 24 captured Ukrainian sailors. Portman made a promise to work in the US Senate to free the Ukrainians.
QHA media reported that the United States is ready to provide Ukraine with lethal weapons for self-defense, both within the funding passed by the Congress and as part of direct purchases by Ukraine itself.
