Ukrainians invited to join rally in memory of victims of the genocide of Crimean Tatars, which will be held on Maidan in Kyiv

First Deputy Minister of Information Policy Emine Dzheppar called on Ukrainians to join the mournful rally in memory of the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people in 1944 and other memorable events.

She invited compatriots to the rally speaking at a press conference, Ukrinform reports.

According to her, the manifestation of solidarity with the Crimean Tatars will confirm that “we are really a single political nation.”

Dzheppar further noted that participation in mourning events will destroy the stories of the Russian media that Ukraine allegedly did nothing and does nothing for the Crimean Tatars.

The Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov said, that the rally will be held in Kyiv on Independence Square on May 18 at 18:00.

He also noted the importance of not only Crimean Tatars being present at the rally.

We all very much hope that together with the Crimean Tatars all our sworn brothers, residents of Kyiv, political figures, MPs and diplomats will be side by side. It is very important that the occupied Crimea see our support for their aspirations to return today under the sovereignty of the Ukrainian state,” stressed Chubarov.

On the eve, Chubarov called on the Kyiv mayor’s office to refuse to hold concerts on the day of the 75th anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars.
