Ukraine brought 40 persons to justice who assisted the illegal occupation of Crimea by the Russian Federation in 2014.

State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine cooperating with the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine filed an indictment against 40 persons in the framework of the case opened in 2020 on Russia's occupation of Crimea.

Deputy Director of the State Bureau of Investigation Oleksiy Sukhachov said among the persons, there are 25 law enforcement officers, 5 judges, 2 prosecuting officers, and 8 civilians.

Sukhachov reported that the investigations are ongoing both against former and incumbent senior officers on high treason.

Earlier, Ukraine-controlled Prosecutor's office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea had filed a lawsuit against 91 members of the Crimean Parliament and Sevastopol City council over voting in favour of holding of an illegal referendum in Crimea.
