Ukraine and United States on Monday performed naval maneuvres conforming to the NATO standards.
U.S. Coast Guard's Hamilton ship and Ukrainian State Border Guard Service's flagship Hryhoriy Kuropyatnikov conducted joint exercises at sea for two days, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said on Monday.
"According to the plan of the exercises, two border ships interacted with the involvement of Starobilsk Ukrainian Navy ship. The crews worked out the coordinated actions of the tactical group to stop provocations at sea and repel the attack from the sky according to NATO standards," the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports.
It is noted that Russian ships regularly observed all the elements of the exercises - practising complex elements of maneuvering, evading air attack, and organizing the anti-sabotage defence of the ship.
"Border guard ships and ships of the Black Sea Fleet observed the exercises and created additional complications for maneuvers. They particularly announced a sudden closure of areas for navigation, created a navigational hazard," reads the statement.
According to the reports, the Russian Fleet typically left unanswered requests, violating international safe navigation standards.
