Fighters of the Joined Forces Operation in the East of Ukraine destroyed two militants over the past day, January 9, in response to enemy fire from grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and small arms, the report of the JFO press center said.
According to the military, the Russian occupying forces twice violated the cease-fire, but no cases of the use of weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements have been recorded.
The strongholds of the Ukrainian troops were fired from grenade launchers of various systems, large-caliber machine guns and small arms near the village Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk direction and near settlement Lebedinske in the Mariupol direction. In response to the provocations of the enemy, the units of the Joined Forces used on-duty fire weapons. No losses among the Ukrainian military.
Another report of the JFO notes that in order to improve the mechanism of interaction of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with international organizations which would contribute to respect for international humanitarian human rights, especially in the zone of military conflicts, a working meeting was held with the Head of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Fiona Frazer.
Frazer noted a positive trend in reducing the number of civilian casualties.
She also welcomed the creation at the end of last year of a working group to collect and summarize information on cases of civilian population injuries and deaths on the orders of the OS Commander.
On January 8, 2019, as a result of the return fire of units of the Joined Forces Operation, two militants were killed and one was injured.
