Getting education in Turkey is an excellent opportunity for students aspiring to pursue an education abroad, says key Ukrainian official, a former scholar of the Turkey scholarships.
Ukraine's Deputy Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Snaver Seitkhalil praised the "Turkiye Scholarships" in an interview with Turkey's Anadolu Agency on Wednesday.
"Turkiye Scholarships is an outstanding program and an excellent opportunity for Ukrainian students aspiring to pursue an education abroad."
Seitkhalil said that back in 2000, he had studied in the International Relations department at Bogazici University in Istanbul.
Graduating with an honorary degree, he became chair of the Turkey Alumni Association.
"There are more than a thousand people [in Ukraine] who graduated from universities in Turkey. Most of them are from Crimea, but interest in Turkish universities is rising among [other] Ukrainians too," the Ukrainian official said.
After living in Turkey for four years, Seitkhalil said that Turkey became an adopted country for him.
"Whenever we [graduates] come to Turkey, we feel as if we have arrived in our second home," Seitkhalil asserted.
Deputy Reintegration Minister of Ukraine added that he and other graduates have many friends in Turkey, and they wanted to deepen ties with Turkey.
"We have many friends here, and we want to deepen our ties," he said.
Seitkhalil also said that someday Crimean Tatars, Ukrainian citizens, would return to their homeland Crimea, which illegally occupied by Russia in 2014.
