“Since the beginning of truce, enemy has carried out more than 500 attacks at our positions, 80 of which with prohibited weapons” - Commander of Joined Forces Operation
The Commander of the Joined Forces, Lieutenant General Volodymyr Kravchenko, gave detailed statistics on the situation at the front since the beginning of the harvest ceasefire.
He reported the situation to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andrei Zagorodniuk and the Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Ruslan Khomchak, who had visited the areas of Donbass on the eve, according to the JFO headquarters.
“In the early days (of ceasefire – Ed.), the number of enemy bombardment actually decreased by almost half. However, already in August, we began to record a gradual increase in the number of enemy attacks on our positions per day, in some cases, up to 20 or more. In total, since the declaration of a harvest ceasefire, the enemy has carried out more than 500 fire attacks at our positions, of which 80 are from prohibited weapons,” he said.
Also during the visit, Zagorodniuk discussed urgent issues that need to be addressed immediately with the heads of the Donetsk and Luhansk regional state administrations.
“During their stay in the area of the JFO, Zagorodniuk, Khomchak and Kravchenko visited about a dozen advanced positions of units along the entire contact line,” the headquarters reported.
From 00:00 on July 21 in the Donbass a harvest ceasefire was introduced – an indefinite ban on any firing. However, already on July 22, the OSCE special monitoring mission reported on having recorded 75 violations of the ceasefire in eastern Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the current day, militants have fired at the JFO positions twice. One Ukrainian military was injured.
