Russia relocated half a million ethnic Russians in Crimea - Chubarov

According to available data, Russia has already resettled up to 500 thousand ethnic Russians on the territory of the illegally annexed Crimean Peninsula.

The Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov cited the figures in an interview with the Turkish news agency Anadolu.

Thus, according to the People’s Deputy of Ukraine, a policy of altering the ethnic map of the Crimea is observed, which Russia has been pursuing for many centuries.

Furthermore, the Head of the Mejlis told about repressions against the Crimean Tatar people in the occupied peninsula.

Perhaps it is not so easy today to drive people into trains overnight and send them to Siberia. Other methods of pressure on the Crimean Tatars are used. The key public figures of the Crimean Tatars are imprisoned. The youth is forcibly conscripted into the Russian army. People are intimidated and forced to leave the Crimea, – Chubarov noted.

The politician went on saying that, along with repression and a forcible change in the demographic situation in the Crimea, Moscow deploys its most modern weapons on the peninsula.

In particular, we are talking about long-range missiles and modern military aircraft.

Earlier, Mustafa Dzhemilev, The Presidential Commissioner of Ukraine for the Affairs of the Crimean Tatar people, said that Russia had brought from 800,000 to 1 million of its citizens to the annexed Crimea since 2014.

Recently, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has also noted that Russia relocates tens of thousands of its citizens to the territory of Crimea, probably, including many people with a criminal past.
