The Directorate and participants of the International Berlin Film Festival demanded the immediate release of Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, who is imprisoned in Russia, according to the information on the festival page on Twitter.
The participants of the action walked on the red carpet with portraits of Sentsov and posters in support of the Ukrainian political prisoner of the Kremlin.
Director Agnieszka Holland, Festival Director Dieter Kosslick, the European Film Awards and Amnesty International are demanding the immediate release of Ukrainian filmmaker and writer Oleg Sentsov.
Ukrainian director, political prisoner Oleg Sentsov is serving a 20-year sentence in the Russian colony of strict regime in the city of Labytnangi, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District of Russia, on charges of terrorism.
He became the first Ukrainian in history who won the Sakharov prize for the Freedom of Thought awarded by the European Parliament.
