President Petro Poroshenko put his signature on the law on ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state one.

The head of state said that the law is perfect and there is no reason for it to be revised.

According to him, many expressed concern that the law would divide society, but the law united the nation.

Poroshenko also expressed the hope that the new government will not oppose the new law.

A thorough discussion of the bill on language definitely benefited the law. Views of all parties involved in public policy were taken into account whenever possible. The only view that we did not intend to take into account was the opinion of Moscow. Let them deal with the Russian language, – the president stressed.

Yesterday, May 14, the law passed by the Verkhovna Rada was signed by Parliament Speaker Andrei Paruby. According to the speaker, since the beginning of the bill registration, “all of Hell’s power” have come out against it, but had to face a professional team that worked in parliament. The law on ensuring the functioning of the Ukrainian language as the state was supported by 278 MPs on April 25.
