The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner on Human Rights of Ukraine Lyudmila Denisova said that the militants transferred to Kyiv another 60 citizens of Ukraine who were in prisons in the occupied districts of the Luhansk region (ORLO).
According to the Ombudsperson, this is the fifth stage of the transfer of prisoners from ORLO.
From December 2018 to May 2019, we relocated 255 convicts. Of these, 105 people or their relatives directly addressed me with statements about the transfer, – Denisova said.
The Ukrainian Ombudsperson further noted that in total 268 convicts had been relocated along with the persons who had been transferred from the occupied part of the Donetsk region. Of these, 46 people have already been released.
During 2014-2019, 454 convicts were transferred from the temporarily occupied territories.
“I am ready to take along all citizens of Ukraine who are serving their sentences in the occupied parts of Donbas and who have expressed a desire to move to the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine in order to continue serving the sentence,” she stressed.
Previous transfers of Ukrainian prisoners who were serving sentences in prisons in the territory of the occupied Luhansk region: 33 people were transferred on February 7, March 20 – 60 people, April 22 – 60 people.
