The leadership of the Ukrainian media and users of social networks are asked, to observe a minute of silence and put a metronome on May 18, the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Crimean Tatar Genocide on the 75th anniversary of the tragedy.
The Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov informed about the initiative on his Facebook page.
The People’s Deputy noted that this day at noon throughout the territory of Ukraine, including in the occupied Crimea, a minute of silence will be declared in memory of the victims of the Crimean Tatar genocide.
On May 18, at 12:00, we ask you to put a metronome dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Crimean Tatar Genocide on the air, on your pages in electronic resources, or in another noticeable way.
Earlier, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people expressed gratitude to the Latvian Saeima for adopting a declaration recognizing the deportation of the Crimean Tatars in May 1944 as an act of genocide. The Latvian Parliament, which adopted this decision on May 9, was the first foreign parliament in the world to take this step.
