Fortress Kermenczyk-Burun of the late Scythians in Crimea was destroyed. Tavrida highway will run in its place
In the Crimea illegally annexed by Russia route “Tavrida” destroyed the ancient fortress Kermenchik-Burun.
Twitter user badbahchi_Phenix informed about the destruction and published a photo from the site, where one can see the construction work being carried out.
In the comments to the post people are outraged by the destruction of the monument, calling the constructors barbarians and saying that watching the Crimea being destroyed is painful.
Earlier, badbahchi_Phenix reported that archaeologists of the Institute of Archeology of Russia asked to preserve the fortress, but no one responded to their requests.
Back in May 2018, Irina Rukavishnikova, a researcher at the Scythian-Sarmatian Archeology Department of the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said in an interview with For Post that even though the fortress is a unique object, it will be destroyed because it is impossible to change the Taurida route plan.
Tatyana Umrihina, Director of the East-Crimean Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, told one of the Crimean TV channels that the ancient crypt of the goddess of fertility Demeter in Kerch was threatened due to the construction of a nearby shopping center.
According to Umrikhina, she repeatedly tried to withdraw the building permit. Residents of the city defended the ancient crypt as well.
