EU leaders at summit to call on Russia to release the Ukrainian sailors - Journalist
At the upcoming June 20-21 summit the EU leaders will call on Russia to release the 24 Ukrainian sailors captured in November 2018 near the Kerch Strait.
The Brussels correspondent of Radio Liberty, Rikard Jozwiak, reported about the intention.
Also, according to him, following the results of the summit, a statement will be adopted on non-recognition of passports, which Russia illegally issues to citizens of Ukraine and a call to resume negotiations on the Minsk agreements.
On June 12, the ambassadors of the EU countries agreed on a decision to extend sanctions against Russia for another year because of the annexation of the Crimea. The term of the current EU sanctions on Crimea ends on June 23. Statement on the extension of the ban on investment in Crimea is expected at a meeting of the EU Council on June 17 in Luxembourg.
