Civil journalist Crimean Tata Memedeminov left in custody until February 15
Today, January 18, the “Supreme Court of Crimea” left in custody the civil journalist Nariman Memedeminov, the public organization Crimean Solidarity reported.
According to human rights defenders, an appeal against the decision of the first instance court was filed by lawyer Emil Kurbedinov.
Thus, Memedeminov will be kept in the remand centre until February 15, 2019.
The court hearing was held in closed session.
Earlier, the Crimean “court” also did not grant the complaint against the court decision on the arrest of Memedeminov, filed three months ago.
As is known, on March 22, 2018, the house of Crimean Tatar Nariman Memedeminov in the village of Kholmivka, Bakhchysarai district was searched, and soon he was detained. Later, the FSB opened a case against Memedeminov, accusing him of publicly calling for terrorist activities using the Internet.
According to lawyer Emil Kurbedinov, Memedeminov is a civil journalist and actively participated in the dissemination of information about human rights violations in the Crimea, for which he is persecuted.
