Ukrainian journalist Stanislav Aseev was sentenced by terrorists of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” to 15 years in prison with a sentence in a maximum security colony. Hromadske reported about the sentence with reference to the information resources of the Russian occupation authorities in the ORDLO. The so-called “Supreme Court of the DPR” found Aseev guilty under the articles “organization of extremist community”, “espionage and incitement to espionage”, “public calls for extremist activities”, “public calls for actions aimed at violating territorial integrity”. Aseev was also banned from journalism for a period of 2 years and 6 months. According to terrorists, from March 2015 to May 2017 the Ukrainian allegedly conducted reconnaissance of the locations of the DPR units and transmitted the information received via the Internet to SBU representatives. With the onset Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine, Stanislav Aseev considered his journalistic duty to remain in Donetsk and engage in journalistic activities. He wrote under the alias ‘Stanislav Vasin’. In June 2017, Aseev was detained by the DPR terrorist group and charged with espionage in favor of Ukraine. There are serious concerns about the health of Stanislav in custody. Later, the militants forced Aseev to admit espionage on the air of Russian TV channel.
