Turkish parliament head postpones Ukraine visit due helicopter crash in Eastern Turkey

A visit of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Sentop to Ukraine, scheduled for March 5-6, has been postponed due to the death of 11 soldiers in an army helicopter crash in eastern Turkey.

"Speaker of the Grand National Assembly Mustafa Sentop postponed his official visit to Ukraine due to the crash of an army helicopter in Tatvan district of Bitlis province, which killed 11 military personnel," the official statement said.

Sentop will attend the funeral of the fallen soldiers.

At least 11 Turkish soldiers, including a senior officer, were martyred and two others injured as a military helicopter crashed in eastern Turkey on Thursday, the Turkish National Defense Ministry reported.

As reported earlier, the Speaker of Turkey's Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Mustafa Sentop was planning an official visit to Ukraine, scheduled for Friday and Saturday.
