Save Edem Bekirov: Family of the Crimean Tatar activist appealed to the public
Life of Edem Bekirov is at risk, and his detention in prison in fact means a death sentence.
A corresponding statement was made by Gulnara Bekirova, the wife of the Crimean Tatar activist detained by the FSB on the administrative border with the Crimea on December 12, 2018.
According to her, Bekirov needs constant external care and medical support.
His life, of a sick person who has a diagnosis and conclusions of doctors, is seriously threatened due to the lack of adequate treatment, dynamic monitoring with mandatory control of laboratory test results and treatment correction. The risk includes: occurrence of threats to the cardiovascular system (repeated infarction or the worst option is acute coronary death), for an unhealed wound the stump of the right tibia is at risk of an acute septic condition, which can also lead to death. I urge: help save Edem! Keeping my husband in prison is in fact a death sentence for him.
Bekirova noted that on the 17th day of the her husband’s detention, thanks to the statements of lawyers because of the deterioration of the prisoner’s health, members of the public independent commission of Russia came to Bekirov and sent him for examination to the Semashko Simferopol hospital.
However, after returning to the cell, so far neither the doctor, nor the nurse, nor the lawyers were allowed to him.
From December 21, 2018, I know nothing about my husband’s state of health.
In turn, the daughter of the Crimean Tatar, Eleonora Bekirova, noted that her father, who is in a special block of the detention facility, is in terrible conditions and does not receive any packages sent to him.
Conditions that are totally inappropriate can be actually fatal !!!
Meanwhile, the lawyer of Edem Bekirov, Aleksey Ladin, said that on January 10, 2019, the “Supreme Court” of Crimea would consider appeals of the defense against the decision of the “Kiev district court” of Simferopol to place his client in custody.
The representative of the Commissioner for the Observance of the Rights of the Residents of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol, Ismail Khalikov, on behalf of the Ukrainian Ombudsperson Lyudmila Denisova, met with Gulnara Bekirova in Genichesk.
Bekirova provided a note from the doctor of Genichesk hospital, who had seen Edem Bekirov. From this certificate, one can conclude that every day of being in a pre-trial detention center threatens to kill Bekirov.
I informed that the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine appealed to Tatyana Moskalkova, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation and Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights Mikhail Fedotov to urgently assist in providing qualified medical assistance to Edem Bekirov.
