Most Crimeans ignored illegal "elections" on annexed peninsula - Chubarov
The Сhairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Refat Chubarov, said that residents of the temporarily occupied Crimea ignored the “election”, despite all the attempts of Moscow.
“The Kremlin has made every effort, coupled with enormous financial costs, so that the voter turnout in the “elections” looks relatively high compared to the Russian regions. However, no matter how hard Moscow was pushing, the majority of residents of the temporarily occupied Crimea unitedly boycotted the illegal “elections” of local MPs held by Russian occupiers,” he said.
Chubarov further noted that the “elections” were boycotted not only by the Crimean Tatars and ethnic Ukrainians, but also by many of those who five years ago were actively waving the Russian flag on Crimean squares.
Chubarov, on behalf of the Mejlis, expressed gratitude to all those who retained personal dignity while living on the territory of the temporarily occupied peninsula, who remained faithful to their native country and remained faithful to Ukraine.
Earlier, on August 30, Refat Chubarov said that leaders of democracies should take courage and openly recognize Russia as a terrorist state.
