December 3, at the Kalanchak checkpoint on the administrative border with the occupied Crimea, a member of the United Russia party who actively supported the occupation of the peninsula, Igor Kucheryavy, was detained.

According to the ATR channel, Kucheryavy was heading from the Crimea to Kherson.

On the mainland, he hoped to get a Ukrainian passport for traveling abroad. At the moment, law enforcement officers are interrogating him.

Igor Kucheryavy is known for actively supporting the occupation of Crimea, during the annexation of the peninsula, he organized the so-called “self-defense units” and “checkpoints” in Sevastopol. The Ministry of Defense of the occupying country awarded him the medal “For the Return of Crimea.”

The deputy commander of the Asker civic formation Evelina Arifova reported, that the trial of Kucheryav will be held in Kherson.

Earlier QHA media reported, that at the beginning of June this year, at the crossing of the administrative border at the Kalanchak checkpoint, a participant in the illegal armed group “Crimean Self-Defense” Stepan Rezunik was detained.

Rezunik’s case went public after his seven-year-old daughter, in a video message to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked to release her father. On October 3, he was released from jail on bail.

On October 9, the prosecutor’s office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea filed an indictment against a member of an illegal armed group.
