“Issue of Crimea should be raised every time” - Chiygoz urged authorities not to limit themselves to “small steps” in struggle for liberation of Ukrainian territory
Nobody forbids anyone to speak in all international formats about Crimea, as a seized territory, as a crime and the fact of Russian aggression.
The Deputy Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, MP Akhtem Chiyhoz expressed such an opinion in a commentary to QHA media.
He called a manipulation the statements that the Normandy format does not provide for discussion of the annexation of the Ukrainian peninsula.
According to him, both Putin’s negotiators and Putin himself, speaking of the Donbass, always keep the Crimean issue in mind. And questions about it are inconvenient for the Kremlin, just as a criminal is uncomfortable when reminded of his crime.
“And the recent meeting in Bishkek is another confirmation of this [events before the summit of the CSTO countries – Ed.]. Bishkek also wasn’t convened on the issue of Crimea, however, Sergey Lavrov was forced to answer questions related to the terror that is happening against the Crimean Tatars,” the People’s Deputy said.
Chiyhoz called on the authorities to raise the problem of Crimea under both favorable and unfavorable circumstances.
He also believes that Ukraine should not be limited to “small steps” in the struggle for the liberation of Crimea.
Any conversation with Russia about Crimea should begin with a global demand – the de-occupation of the peninsula, because this will help get rid of repression on ethnic and religious grounds, ethnic oppression of the Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians on the peninsula, population replacement and militarization of Crimea.
