In the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, a report has presented on pressures applied against journalists and bloggers in the occupied Crimea.

Member of the Crimean Human Rights Group, Irina Sedova said,

“We have done this research to show what has happened in the Crimea since the beginning of the occupation. Freedom of expression is being destroyed each day in Crimea. Every month, we record pressures against journalists and bloggers in Crimea.”

Sedova reported that they recorded pressure and human rights violations that occurred between February 2014 and September 2019 in the published report.

“The most active pressures on journalists were at the end of February 2014 and in March 2014. We have recorded over hundred oppression cases against journalists.”

Investigative journalist Tatyana Rihtun accented that the invaders are trying to destroy freedom of thought and turn free media into propaganda sources in Crimea.

On the other hand, the report documented that more than 300 pressure incidents have occurred against human rights defenders and journalists since the occupation in 2014.
