Denisova: 86 Crimean Tatar political prisoners included in the exchange list
Lyudmila Denisova, Human Rights Officer (Ombudsman) of the Ukrainian Parliament, said that she included the names of the 86 Crimean Tatar political prisoners in the list of Ukraine’s prisoner exchanges.
Speaking to the Ukrinform news agency, Denisova said that Ukrainian side prepared a list for the next prisoner exchange planned between Ukraine and Russia, and the list includes 200 names.
“The list includes 86 Crimean Tatars. These are people who are under various stages of prosecution, people both convicted and whose sentence completed but under restrictions.”
The Human Rights Officer stated that the list also includes Ukrainian citizens detained in the occupied Donbas.
Previously, the President of the Crimean Tatar National Assembly (Mejlis), Refat Chubarov, reported that there were 112 Crimean Tatars and Ukrainian political prisoners in the exchange list, both from occupied Crimea and Russia’s detention centres.
