According to Vadim Skibitskiy, Representative of the Directorate of the Ukraine Ministry of Defense, the number of Russian soldiers in the occupied Crimea increased 2.5 times in six years. Currently, there are approximately 32 thousand Russian soldiers in the occupied peninsula.

Speaking to the Ukrainian press, Vadim Skibitskiy, representative of the Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, said,

“Not only the number of soldiers but also the number of weapons has increased. Such as military ships, military jets, Su-24 grenade launchers, etc. So, mostly grenade launchers and fighter planes. Also, I would like to note that there was no Russian S-400 air defence system in Crimea before. All of these weapons are used in conjunction with “Ball” and “Bastion” anti-ship missile systems.”

Skibitskiy foretold that Russia will not stop at this point and will continue to increase its military potential in the peninsula. Besides, he noted that today Russia uses Crimea as the main army base not only for the Black Sea region but also for the troops in Syria.
