“Blatant disrespect for Ukraine”: US condemned launch of trains on the Kerch bridge by Russia
The US Embassy in Ukraine condemned the opening of a rail link between Russia and the occupied Crimea through the Kerch Strait.
The US diplomatic mission made such a statement today, December 26.
The statement notes that the launch of trains from Russia to the annexed Ukrainian peninsula ” demonstrates blatant disrespect for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
In turn, the Foreign Ministry of Poland noted that such actions by Russia confirm the correctness of the sanctions imposed against it and the need to continue this policy.
Romania also opposed the opening of the railway link on the Kerch Bridge, and declared support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Estonia, Latvia, and a number of other countries condemned the launch of passenger trains from the Russian Federation to the annexed Crimea.
The European Union called the opening of railway communication on the Kerch bridge the violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Brussels reiterated its full support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.
On December 25, the Kyiv-based Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea opened a criminal proceeding because of the illegal transportation of people across the state border from the Russian Federation to the territory of the occupied Ukrainian peninsula.
