“An increase in the number of Ukrainians going on holiday to Crimea is not observed" - State Border Service
The number of Ukrainian citizens who visit the annexed peninsula has not changed much compared to last year.
Assistant to the Head of the State Border Service Oleg Slobodian presented the relevant data, according to Ukrinform.
We do not observe an increase in the number of Ukrainians traveling on vacations. So, in May 2019, about 197 thousand people crossed the administrative border with the Crimea, and in May last year – about 190 thousand. That is, the increase is insignificant, and it would be inappropriate to talk about some sharp increase in the number of those who are going there on holiday, – he said.
Slobodian further stressed that in June, the administrative border with the occupied Crimea was crossed by 30 thousand people less compared to the same period in 2018.
Moreover, he noted that the border guards do not track the purpose of the visit of Ukrainians to the annexed Crimea, since “to a certain extent this is a restriction of rights and freedoms.”
QHA media reported that the number of crossings at the administrative border with Crimea on winter holidays has decreased by 25% compared to the same period of the previous year.
