A delegation led by Mustafa Jemilev meets with Saudi Minister for Islamic Affairs

During the visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, representatives of the Crimean Tatar people, led by Mustafa Jemilev, met with the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Da'wah and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh. The main issues on the agenda of the meeting were those related to visits by Ukrainian pilgrims to Muslim shrines, the situation in the occupied Crimea, as well as International policy issues.

One of the members of the delegation, Jemilev's adviser, the newly elected people's deputy of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov informed QHA media about the meeting.

The parties, in particular, discussed the allocation of additional quotas for obtaining visas for citizens of Ukraine living in the occupied territories to perform Hajj and Umrah, the creation of a monitoring group to visit the occupied territories of Ukraine.

In addition, the support of Ukraine by Saudi Arabia at meetings of the UN General Assembly was discussed as well as the possibility of Ukraine joining the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) as an observer. Following the meeting of representatives of the Crimean Tatar people and Saudi Minister Al-Sheikh, a principled mutual agreement was reached on all the issues voiced.

A delegation of representatives of the Crimean Tatar people led by Mustafa Jemilev arrived on an official visitto Saudi Arabia on July 28. The delegation members will visit Jeddah, Mecca and Medina.
