Turkey ranks third by passenger flow to Crimea AQMESCIT/ SIMFEROPIL (QHA) - Turkey is on the third place in Crimea in terms of its passenger traffic flow via the Simferopol International Airport, according to the press service of the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
“Passenger flow from Turkey via the Simferopol International Airport was 47,000 people last year, which is only 3% more than in 2010. But this year we expect a significant growth in the passenger traffic from this country, including tourists as well. Abolition of the visa regime with Turkey will enable to increase the influx of tourists by more than a half,” said Mykola Marinov, the Deputy Minister of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea.
He added that after the abolition of the visa regime with Israel on February 9, 2011, the rise in passenger flow from this country was 72%.
“Crimea is a very interesting tourism destination for Turks. They have many things to see here, learn about our culture and history. They are interested in our health-resort treatment. We have daily direct flights, and in the future we may increase the number of flights. In addition, many people in Crimea have no language barrier when communicating in the Turkish language,” Mr. Marinov concluded.
It will be recalled that on December 22, 2011 during an official visit of the President Victor Yanukovich to Turkey, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Turkey signed an agreement on visa-free regime between the countries.
