The chorus was formed in Russia in 1997 in order to revive song traditions of early Slavs.
Members of the chorus do not have professional music education and are a distinctive group.
The ensemble’s credo is ‘the world through culture.’
‘Surovarg’ has staged in the Crimean capital for the first time.
“We are very glad to perform in this city and pass the beauty and power of our Moscow land, Mozhay land from our Mozhay ancient land to Tavria, which also unites many people by its beauty and might,” said Vladimir Yegorov, a chorus member, head of the Centre of Ancient Slavic Culture ‘Suryanitsa.’
During the event, the chorus performed ancient Slavic runes as well as modern songs about nature.
As part of the event, the I. Franko Universal Research Library also presented a book exhibition devoted to the culture and life of Slavic ethnic groups.
