Russia remains Crimea’s major export partner

  Russia remains Crimea’s major export partner AQMESCIT/ SIMFEROPIL (QHA) - Crimea exports the majority of goods to Russia, the press service of the Main Department of Statistics of Crimea says.
According to statistics, the volume of exports to Russia in 2011 was USD 677.5 million, import – USD 1 billion 466.1 million.
Compared to 2010, exports went up by 20.3%, imports – by 4.5 times. Negative balance of foreign trade amounted to USD 788.6 million against USD 236 million in 2010.
The Autonomous Republic of Crimea (ARC) maintained foreign trade relations with partners from 123 countries.
44% of all products was imported to the CIS states, 21% - to the European Union. In 2010 these figures were 38% and 27% respectively.
The Russian Federation remains the main trade partner of Crimea. It accounts for 29% of export supplies.
The autonomy increased exports of goods to Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, China, Hungary and Germany. In particular, ARC stepped up supplies of tannic ore, inorganic chemicals, machinery, slag, ash and fertilizers.
Imports from the CIS countries made 8%, from EU – 34% in comparison with 23% and 41% respectively in 2010.
Crimea increased import deliveries from China, Germany, Indonesia, former Yugoslavia, Hungary, UK, Russia and Turkey, particularly, imports of mechanical, electrical machinery and equipment, swimming facilities, ferrous metals, building materials, mineral fuel, oil, petroleum and refining products.
