This was announced at a meeting of representatives of the Crimean Tatar Diaspora of Yalova with the Mayor of Qarasubazar, Albert Kangi, which was held on Monday.
As reported, the authorities of Qarasubazar launched a waste disposal programme implemented with the financial and technical support of TIKA. For this purpose, one garbage truck, 150 garbage containers, a vertical hydraulic press and a line for sorting waste were purchased. The idea was proposed by the Crimean Tatar Diaspora of Yalova.
A Turkish delegation composed of the project developer Eyüp Işteben and Director of the Health Department, Yalova Municipality, Dr. Metin Beyazıt came to Qarasubazar to tell their Crimean colleagues about the project and share experiences of sorting and recycling waste.
During the meeting, representatives of the Turkish municipality said that by waste disposal (glass, paper, cardboard, metal, plastic) they can reduce the consumption of natural resources, extend the storage of solid waste and prevent pollution.
Mr. Işteben noted that the prompt disposal of trash will save fresh water and land for future generations. He also expressed the hope that cleanliness of the town will become a tradition for the local residents.
According to Albert Kangi, one of the steps in the programme implementation is the action ‘Make the town cleaner together.’ Thus, in the framework of the campaign, during the week 18 volunteers from the Crimean Tatar youth organization ‘Qardaşlıq-Qarasuv’ and the organization ‘Young Regions’ visited all houses and apartments of local residents, gave them leaflets and four plastic bags to sort paper, plastic, glass and metal into them.
At the end of the meeting, the mayor of Qarasubazar thanked the project developer and TIKA’s General Coordinator in Ukraine, Ahmet Çinar, for the support in the implementation of project. He also expressed confidence that the twinning with the Turkish city of Yalova will help in the implementation of many other projects in Qarasubazar aimed at improving the quality of life for its residents.
“With regard to the development of twin town relations with Yalova, we will see its development in the form of cultural exchange. We see our relationship with the city of Yalova in providing practical assistance and dissemination of its experience in our territory. We hope that the international programmes that are working today in our twin city of Yalova can somehow touch out town as well, because our town is not just a town in Crimea. It is a town with a very large and ancient history, the town that was once the capital of the Crimean Khanate,” Mr. Kangi stressed.
It should be reminded that in 2011 Yalova and Qarasubazar became twin towns.
