Police detain 20 in anti-Putin protest MOSCOW (QHA) - About 20 people protesting against Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s government have been detained in Moscow on Tuesday, Associated Press has reported.
The protesters held a banner that said "Stop the Dictatorship" and they chanted "Russia Without Putin."
Vladimir Putin intends to return to the presidency by winning an election in March. But he has faced increasingly vocal opposition since his party won a December parliamentary election through what was seen as widespread fraud.
Tuesday’s protest was held outside the Central Election Commission, whose chairman is a Putin loyalist.
