AQMESCIT/ SIMFEROPIL (QHA) - At the reception of citizens, they most complain about the problems of housing, said the Head of the Permanent Commission of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (VR ARC) on Interethnic Relations and Problems of Formerly Deported Citizens, Remzi İlâs.
“It is very difficult to explain to people that the funding is insufficient, that housing is allocated in accordance with the law, and neither by the Verkhovna Rada, nor the Council of Ministers, but according to the place of residence, local self-government: village council or city council. In addition, funds are insufficient, they are allocated unevenly and erratically,” Mr. İlâs.
He noted that group appeals related to the provision of water and gas in places densely populated by formerly deportees remain urgent, as well as the issues associated to obtaining registration and citizenship.
According to the head of the Permanent Commission, 12 thousand people from among the formerly deportees have no permanent residence in Crimea, and this is a problem that affects the social benefits, privileges, not to mention the difficulties in finding work.
“In general, we must adopt a law on restoration of rights of formerly deportees. Then we all will be able to work easier and officials would not speculate, to improvise, whether or not to assist, but will clearly understand that this man was deported and he has certain privileges and opportunities,” Remzi İlâs stressed.
