During the two-hour discussion of the situation in Crimea, Mustafa Jemilev had a phone conversation with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, which lasted for 40 minutes. Mustafa Jemilev said this to QHA agency.
During the conversation, Mustafa Jemilev spoke about the situation in Crimea, the need for peaceful settlement of the issue through diplomatic channels, preserving the integrity of Ukraine as well as ensuring safety of Crimean residents, Crimean Tatars in particular.
Vladimir Putin said that final settlement of the Crimean issue will take place after the referendum on March 16. It was agreed to continue negotiations if necessary.
“Vladimir Putin suggested that the final decision about what Russia will do will be determined after the referendum on March 16,” said Jemilev.
According to Jemilev, he stressed to Vladimir Putin that this referendum will not be recognized by Ukraine and the world community.
Vladimir Putin also said that the issue of preservation of Crimean Tatars and prevention of conflicts is very important to him and that he gave order to prevent any violence against the Crimean Tatars.
