Latvia to open consulate in Crimea AQMESCIT/ SIMFEROPIL (QHA) - Latvia wants to open its consulate in Crimea, which will help increase a two-way influx of tourists between the autonomy and Baltic states. Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Oleksandr Liiev, has stated this in an interview with the Russian newspaper of Latvia ‘Chas.’
According to the minister, the Crimean authorities are initiating talks to open the Latvian consulate in Crimea, which would issue visas not only to Latvia but Lithuania and Estonia as well.
“Crimean people also want to see Europe. We have chosen the way of integration to Europe, and Riga gives us such an opportunity. There is not mental or linguistic barrier,” Mr. Liiev stressed.
He also noted that due to stable activities of the Latvian AirBaltic airline, a regular Crimea-Latvia air connection was established.
“AirBaltic is a reliable partner. We see prospects in it, regardless of the changes taking place there. We can be definitely helpful to each other,” the minister concluded.
