Jean-Claude Mignon: PACE to seek ways to help Tymoshenko STRASBURG (QHA) - The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will explore every avenue to help jailed Ukrainian Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon said after a meeting with the ex-premier’s daughter, Yevheniya Tymoshenko, in Strasbourg on January 25, Interfax-Ukraine reported.
Mignon also said he has written a letter to Yulia Tymoshenko and her daughter would pass it to the ex-premier.
“I told her that she had many friends, that she was not forgotten, and that they would make every effort to help her in this dramatic situation,” the PACE president said.
He noted that Tymoshenko’s case was a matter of personal concern to him. He also said he intended to meet with the new commissioner for human rights and discuss this matter with him.
Speaking about the meeting with Tymoshenko’s daughter, Mignon said he told her that they all were aware of the situation in which her mother had found herself.
The PACE president told that he raised this issue at a meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko, during which he expressed concern over Tymoshenko’s condition.
“The Ukrainian minister said that he understood my message,” he concluded.
