Turkish Red Crescent sends humanitarian aid to Crimean Tatars

AQMESCITSIMFEROPIL, 28.07.10  (QHA) – Humanitarian aid in sum of USD 231 thousand that is sent by the charitable organization Türk Kızılаyı Derneği (Turkish Red Crescent Society) has been arrived to Crimea. Men, women and children’s clothes, blankets, shoes, stationery are in this humanitarian cargo of Red Crescent. The Crimean Tatar Women’s League has become an institution responsible for reception and distribution of this humanitarian aid in Crimea.

This aid will be distributed among the Crimean Tatars through 15 field branches of this NGO in different towns and villages in Crimea. A group of employees of the Red Crescent which will come to the peninsula soon will watch for distribution process.

An idea to send such cargo to Crimea occurred during the visit of the Head of the Türk Kızılаyı Derneği Mr Tekin Küçükali to Ukraine in March this year. Thanks to assistance of the General Coordinator of the QHA News Agency Mr Ismet Yuksel and the Honorary Consul of the Turkish Republic in Aqmescit (Simferopil) Mr Seyran Osman the eminent guest got an opportunity to meet with representatives of the Crimea’s different organizations. Mr T. Küçükali made his proposal to send a humanitarian aid to Crimea when he had acquainted with situation on the peninsula.
