Germany to invest in Crimea's wind industry

AQMESCIT/ SIMFEROPIL (QHA) - German investors have presented an investment project to develop the wind power engineering in Crimea.
The project was presented at a meeting between the Deputy Head of the Crimean Council of Minister Aziz Abdullah and representatives of the Bureau of the Delegate of German Economy in Ukraine and the WKN AG company (Germany), the press service of the Ministry of Regional Development, Housing and Communal Service of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The project includes research on alternative energy, as well as the whole cycle of production of wind energy: development, design, financial feasibility and security, a turnkey construction and continued operation of wind farms.
The project provides for the construction of wind power plants with capacity of 400 MW in the Cankoy/ Dzhankoy and Krasnoperekopsk raions. Investment amount is USD 1 billion.
Participants in the meeting will sign an agreement of cooperation between the WKN AG and Crimean Regional Development Agency.
“This agreement will allow carry on a dialogue of the parties at a professional level and promptly solve production issues encountered in the construction of wind farms,” reads the press service’s statement.
The meeting also discussed advantages of using wind power, in particular, elimination of greenhouse gas emissions, guaranteed electricity supply, predictable cost of raw materials, realistic cost of energy generation, creation of new jobs and development of social infrastructure.
