The Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman commented on the rocket launch on his Facebook page.
“Congratulations to our Dnepropetrovsk colleagues and everyone who supports our missile industry. Tonight Antares with the first Ukrainian stage successfully delivered the cargo to the ISS. This is the first flight after the crash in 2014. And it is very important,” the Prime Minister wrote.
The cargo ship will deliver the cargo with a total weight of 2.3 tons, including food, water, supplies and scientific equipment, to the International Space Station (ISS).
The launch took place on Tuesday at 2:46 as planned, although it was repeatedly postponed, and not only because of the weather conditions.
After nine minutes of flight, Cygnus has been successfully launched into orbit, where it will remain until Sunday, and then will go to the International Space Station.
In addition to materials for scientific experiments, the Cygnus will bring to the station the equipment to launch into space miniature satellites designed to monitor the weather on Earth.
