December 20, the counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed the official of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers in the activities in the interests of the special services of Russia, SBU press office informed.

“Law enforcers found that the official was recruited by Russian special services during a lengthy foreign mission. The SBU operatives documented that the official, by instructions from Russian curators, collected information on the activities of government structures with the help of special equipment. The perpetrator sent the data to the curators via electronic communication channels,” the message said.

Law enforcers detained an enemy agent in the workplace with the assistance of the authority of the Ukrainian government in the framework of criminal proceedings opened under Part 1 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code. The detainee has already been informed of the suspicion of committing a crime.

Earlier, Russian spy has been detained in Rivne. According to SBU, the detention of a Russian agent took place in the regional center. The details are not disclosed now, as this may interfere with the investigation.

It is known that a native of Rivne region was in the Donetsk region in March last year, where he had been recruited by Russian special services. His purpose was reconnaissance and subversive activities in the territory of the Rivne region.
