KYIV (QHA) -

It’s time for NATO countries to lift artificial restrictions in providing Ukraine with lethal weapons, Oleksandr Turchynov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine stated during his speech at the Ukraine-NATO Commission.

He stressed that "the long overdue need for a political decision by the Alliance’s countries to remove artificial restrictions and provide Ukraine with weapons, including lethal ones, for equipping the Armed Forces and other structures of the security and defense sector”.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine noted that Ukraine is ready to further expand and deepen cooperation with NATO on a bilateral basis.

According to him, the matter concerns the provision of export licenses by the NATO countries for the supply of military goods to Ukraine, in particular those of lethal action. He also assured his western colleagues of the reliability of Ukraine.

"Ukraine has been and remains NATO's reliable partner. The development of special partnership relations will strengthen our common security, and the future membership of Ukraine in the Alliance will be a guarantee of peace and stability in Eastern Europe and the Euro-Atlantic space as a whole," Turchynov summed up.

Earlier, the Government of Canada included Ukraine in the list of states where exports were allowed.

QHA reported that December 12, US President Donald Trump signed the US defense budget for 2018, which provided for the allocation of $ 350 million to grant military assistance to Ukraine in opposing Russia's aggression.
