The situation in the area of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) in eastern Ukraine has become much more acute. Alexander Hug, the Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, made a corresponding statement via video-link at the briefing.
“We recorded an aggravation of the situation on the Donbas. Last week, the total number of cases of violations of the ceasefire was nearly 20,000. This is more than during the previous period,” he noted.
According to the Deputy Head of the OSCE SMM in Ukraine, the most severe deterioration is observed in the city of Popasnaya.
“In the past, we have witnessed violation of the cease-fire regime. In our reports, we cover these facts.”
Earlier, on December 14, the ATO headquarters press-centre reported on 24 cases of militants’ attacks on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from banned mortars, which resulted in injuring of four Ukrainian servicemen.
