Ukrainian journalist Andrei Tsaplienko reports on Facebook about the enhance movement of Russian military equipment in direction of Ukraine.
“It stirred. This week, an unprecedented movement of military equipment is observed in Russia. Moscow Region, Kostroma, Samara, Volgograd, Petersburg ... Servicemen are deployed to the European part of Russia by airplanes even from Novosibirsk. They talk about the military exercise "West-2017". It will begin on September 14 at six polygons in Belarus. But on these latest photos the military equipment is moving not to Belarus, but quite the other way. In the direction of Ukraine. Voronezh region, Krasnodar and the Crimea ...” Tsaplienko informed.
The journalist noted that the echelon with the equipment on the lower photo was spotted at Rossosh station.
“It would take half an hour to get to the Ukrainian border. Why an armored armada is being deployed a thousand kilometers away (and a month before) the exercises, remains a mystery. Perhaps they have lost their way...” he wrote.
The exercise "West-2017" in Belarus is scheduled for September this year. It will bring together more than 100 thousand military personnel. This will be the largest Russian exercise since 2013.
On June 30, at a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak said that holding West-2017 on the border with Ukraine is a threat to the state.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko believes that after the military exercises "West-2017" Russia can leave part of the troops in the territory of Belarus.
