The number of Ukrainians, who are illegally kept by the fighters of terrorist "LPR" and "DPR", continues to grow.
The First Vice-Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Herashchenko informed the journalists on the matter following the meeting with the President of Ukraine.
According to her, Vasyl Hrytsak, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, who was present at the meeting, voiced a new disappointing figure: To date, the number of Ukrainians illegally detained by militants is 170 people.
“These are the citizens whose relatives or close friends applied to the SBU. But the ORDLO representatives do not confirm all citizens they are keeping. To date, they have confirmed only 97 people, of whom 74 citizens, whose location in known, will be released on December 27," Herashchenko explained.
Also, according to her, the President instructed to provide the liberated Ukrainians with medical aid, as well as promptly deliver them to their families.
Earlier, the issue of hostages release was discussed, in particular, during the phone conversations of German Chancellor Angela Merkel with Ukrainian President Poroshenko, and German Chancellor with the Russian president.
