KYIV (QHA) -

The OSCE is the only institution that contributes to the cessation of Russian aggression with its presence in Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said on May 29 during a meeting with the delegation of the permanent representatives of the OSCE participating States in Vienna who arrived in Ukraine to review the state of the conflict settlement both in Ukraine and around it.

The Minister highly appreciated the efforts of the OSCE aimed at stabilizing the situation in the Donbas, as well as the key role of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in effective monitoring and verification of the implementation of Minsk agreements.

Pavlo Klimkin stressed the importance of ensuring unimpeded access for the SMM to the entire territory of the Donbas, which is temporarily not controlled by the government of Ukraine, in particular with a view to preventing the supply of military equipment, ammunition and mercenaries from Russia to Ukraine.

Reportedly, May 28 – 31, 2017, a delegation of permanent representatives of the OSCE participating States is staying in Ukraine to familiarize themselves with the state of the conflict settlement in and around Ukraine, including the situation at the demarcation line in certain areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as the activities of the Special Monitoring mission (SMM) of the OSCE in Ukraine.
