In January, the Russian military grouping in the temporarily occupied Crimea will strengthen anti-aircraft defense with a new battalion of S-400 surface-to-air missile systems, according to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

“The new S-400 air defense missile system will be put on combat duty on January 12 in Sevastopol," the department informed.

The long-range S-400 Triumf air-defense system was designed and manufactured by Almaz-Antei Concern, it is intended to defeat strategic and tactical aircraft, ballistic missiles, hypersonic targets and other air assault weapons in electronic and other forms of counteraction.

Earlier, QHA reported that the two divisions of anti-aircraft missile systems S-400 will be used by the Russian occupation forces in the Crimea in the early days of 2018.

On December 22, near the town of Kerch (occupied Crimea), residents of the village of Zolote began to rush under military equipment to prevent the security forces from installing a radar station. During the confrontations with the security officers, one villager became ill and an ambulance was called in.

According to preliminary information, the village council administration tried to give explanations to the villagers about the installation of the radar station. However, residents of Zolote claim that they were not shown any documentation for the construction, however concrete mixers still arrived.
